These guys are great. I asked several companies to come in and take a look at our system. Akshar immediately pointed out that the system had originally been built incorrectly and told me how they were going to fix it. They got it done quickly, efficiently, and without leaving any kind of a mess behind. Behind. When I had a couple of issues when I first started using it, they were right on it. A pleasure to work with people who know what they're doing.

Over all, my experience was very positive. Mayur provided a clear scope of work & equipment at a fair price to replace our HVAC (gas furnace and AC). In fact, they were able to coordinate with JCP&L and finance the project for 0% for 7 years. You can't beat that!

The installation went OK. I had a few questions that I shared with Stephanie. She seems to manage the office. SHE IS A ROCK STAR. Very responsive. Arranged follow up work to accommodate my schedule, etc.

    Back to my questions:

    1. I wanted to ensure my AprilAire humidified could be controlled by my Ecobee smart thermostat and I would not have to use a separate AprilAire controller. Mayur came back quickly and rewired the Ecobee. It is July, so I won't be able to test it until the weather gets cold, but I have every reason to believe it will be fine.
    2. The furnace manufacturer spec call for vent pipe supports every 4 feet. The guys that installed the unit put them too far apart. I let Stephanie know, and she got them back to the house ASAP to add more supports.
    3. The ports out side of the house were too close to the ground according to the inspector. Stephanie arranged to have the guys stop by the house and address. The inspector approved the modification.
So, yes, there were a few issues that needed to be addressed. Stuff happens. What matters is how a contractor responds. The Akshar team was very responsive. Again, a special "thanks" to Stephanie.

Nov 22 update: I recently had my the first chance to use the heating and humidifier on our new HVAC. Problem: It was turning off after running for 10 minutes. The Akshar team came out the next day and corrected a wiring issue between the smart thermostat (Ecobee) and the furnace. However, the system was still turning off. After a few more visits, they determined that there was a faulty sensor in the HVAC unit. The faulty sensor was a manufacturer issue: NOT Akshar. They replaced it (NC) and now they system is working like a champ! I can even control the humidifier from the smart thermostat.

Things happen. The proof is how well the contractor stands behind their work and products they provide. Akshar gets a big "thumbs up" for both from me.

Absolutely rubbish behaviour and service by this people. Complete unprofessional bunch. Can't recommend at all. BEWARE. Only hire them if you want to be yelled at in your own home and called a Liar REPEATEDLY because of miscommunication between their phone rep and technician. Either that or because they want to charge more despite being issue within just 3-4 months of installation. Details review to come later once my injury heals but highly recommend to stay away from this low offer unprofessionals.

Akshar has been a great company to work with. They just completed a job that involved installing a new furnace with improved filtration plenum, a new efficient water heater, and installation of new ductwork. They are very communicative with phone calls and email reminders. The only issue we had was that we needed a vent installed for our over-the-range microwave and this is not something they normally do. They still did it and it works well, just note that this is not a normal ask for them.

I would not hesitate to hire Akshar again for any HVAC needs.

After shopping around with 5 HVAC companies, Akshar gave us the best estimate. The owner of the company came to do the initial assessment and there was no pressure sales talk at all. Akshar presented us with reasonable pricing and were very patient in providing us with multiple estimates of different models to fit our needs. The office staff was professional, friendly and prompt in responding. The entire crew was also professional and worked on the job in a very timely and efficient manner.

Akshar gave us the Best estimate with the Better Equipment compared to all the rest.

We had used Akshar HVAC to replace our 20 year old heating and air conditioner. They were the most reasonably priced and very willing to work with us on multiple options to get us the specific model/combinations we wanted. Mayur was extremely knowledgeable, patient and really took time to understand our specific need, provide with an estimate which was significantly better than the nearest competitor estimate. The work was executed with precision in timeframe promised. And all paper work with township, PSEG (rebate) and warranty was handled by them smoothly. No surprises at all!
I would highly recommend Akshar HVAC and Mayur for any HVAC needs for high quality work at a very reasonable price.

How Can SEER Ratings Lower Your Energy Bills?

While shopping for an HVAC system, you might have stumbled upon the term SEER rating displayed on the unit. But what does it mean, and how does it affect you? Well, SEER ratings stand for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, which measures how effectively a system cools your home or dissipates heat. Understanding SEER ratings can help you lower your energy bills, increase comfort, and extend the lifespan of your unit.

A Brief History of SEER Ratings

The SEER Ratings were first introduced in 1979 by the Department of Energy, which fixed a rating of 6.0 for all equipment. Over time, the ratings have gone through significant updates with improved accuracy over the years.

In 2023, another significant milestone was achieved with the introduction of SEER2. This energy-rating system takes into consideration a wide range of factors and provides a more accurate measurement.

The US Department of Energy has fixed energy rating standards for all HVAC Installations. DOE increased the SEER ratings from 10 to 13 first in 2006, and again in 2015. The most recent SEER rating standard for heat pumps and air conditioners is 14 in the South, and 13 in the North for all US states.

What are the Advantages of SEER Rating?

SEER ratings calculate the efficiency of air conditioners and heat pumps. A higher SEER rating reduces energy usage, improves comfort, and lowers long-term costs, making it a smart investment for homeowners and businesses.

    • Your Energy Bills Will Fall

When you install HVAC systems with high SEER ratings will consume less electricity and lead to a fall in the electricity bill over time. So, in the long run, you can offset the initial cost of installing the HVAC unit.

    • You Will Use Less Power

The primary goal of SEER Ratings is to deliver an eco-conscious living. So, if you purchase an HVAC system with high ratings, your unit will deliver the same cooling but run with less energy.

    • Way to Go Green

You will significantly contribute to lower greenhouse gas emissions following SEER ratings. It will contribute significantly to fighting against climate change.

    • Feel comfortable at Home.

Systems with higher SEER ratings come with changeable speed compressors and control indoor temperatures to a great extent. In other words, your energy-saving unit lets out the correct quantity of humid air, which keeps your home or business comfortable in all seasons.

    • Take Advantage of Rebates

Save big when you swap your old HVAC unit with a SEER2-certified system. Manufacturers offer huge discounts when you make the switch as an incentive to go green. So, buying an energy-efficient system is worth your dollar.

    • Save Significantly in the Long Run

The first energy-efficient HVAC Installation is higher, but you will save significantly in the long run. Reduced electric bills and low maintenance costs make it quite a price-saving choice for both commercial and residential consumers.

    • Remain Compliant with State Regulations

Each state has its own energy rating, and all SEER-certified systems help to maintain that. So, you will not have not pay any penalty to the energy department for non-compliance.

Which SEER Rating Is Good for Me?

You should take into consideration the budget, local climate, and long-term goals while choosing a SEER system. It is also good to remember that SEER-rated systems come with a high installation charge. So, it would be ideal to balance your current bank balance and pricing reduction goals.

    • Your Finance is Important

An HVAC system with a SEER rating between 14 and 16 is quite economical and comes within your budget. So, if you have budget constraints, you can opt for this choice.

    • Climate In Your Region

If you live in a humid area, you will need to purchase a unit with a higher SEER rating. That’s because, if you can pay the initial cost of installing the unit, you will save a lot in the long run. So, go for a rating between 18 and 20 in such circumstances.

    • Your Understanding of Comfort

When you install an HVAC with a high SEER rating, you can take advantage of variable-speed cooling, which helps to even out the temperature, control humidity, and increase the total comfort you experience.

    • Check the Warranty Offers

Several manufacturers offer extended warranties when you purchase a SEER unit with better energy controls. Also, you will get discounts along the way.

What are the Roadblocks to a Good SEER Rating?

SEER Ratings, also known as seasonal energy efficiency ratings, depend on several factors. It is a known fact that outdated HVAC equipment will blow up your bills and reduce performance. Here are a few roadblocks to remove to achieve a good SEER rating:

    • Capacity in Relation to Your Room

If your room is small, an oversized HVAC installation can lead to energy waste. Conversely, a large room with a small HVAC can make the unit work harder, pushing up your energy bill. So, it will adversely affect the SEER rating of your unit.

    • Position of Your Unit

If your HVAC unit is positioned at the far corner of the room, installed higher, or exposed to direct sunlight, it will consume more energy, affecting performance. Improve the SEER rating by placing the unit in an appropriate position and inside a shaded area.

    • Improper Airflow

Poor ventilation affects the performance of your HVAC, leading to a drop in energy rating. Installing Energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) and heat recovery ventilators (HRVs) can promote better ventilation by capturing energy from outgoing air to pre-condition incoming fresh air.

    Final Thoughts

SEER-certified HVAC installation helps to lower energy bills, improve comfort, and deliver long-term savings. Besides, SEER units are good for the environment and improve air quality. So, make an informed choice today and bring a start-rated HVAC and enjoy consistent comfort all season.
