These guys are great. I asked several companies to come in and take a look at our system. Akshar immediately pointed out that the system had originally been built incorrectly and told me how they were going to fix it. They got it done quickly, efficiently, and without leaving any kind of a mess behind. Behind. When I had a couple of issues when I first started using it, they were right on it. A pleasure to work with people who know what they're doing.

Over all, my experience was very positive. Mayur provided a clear scope of work & equipment at a fair price to replace our HVAC (gas furnace and AC). In fact, they were able to coordinate with JCP&L and finance the project for 0% for 7 years. You can't beat that! The installation went OK. I had a few questions that I shared with Stephanie. She seems to manage the office. SHE IS A ROCK STAR. Very responsive. Arranged follow up work to accommodate my schedule, etc.Back to my questions:1. I wanted to ensure my AprilAire humidified could be controlled by my Ecobee smart thermostat and I would not have to use a separate AprilAire controller. Mayur came back quickly and rewired the Ecobee. It is July, so I won't be able to test it until the weather gets cold, but I have every reason to believe it will be fine.2. The furnace manufacturer spec call for vent pipe supports every 4 feet. The guys that installed the unit put them too far apart. I let Stephanie know, and she got them back to the house ASAP to add more supports.3. The ports out side of the house were too close to the ground according to the inspector. Stephanie arranged to have the guys stop by the house and address. The inspector approved the modification. So, yes, there were a few issues that needed to be addressed. Stuff happens. What matters is how a contractor responds. The Akshar team was very responsive. Again, a special "thanks" to Stephanie.Nov 22 update: I recently had my the first chance to use the heating and humidifier on our new HVAC. Problem: It was turning off after running for 10 minutes. The Akshar team came out the next day and corrected a wiring issue between the smart thermostat (Ecobee) and the furnace. However, the system was still turning off. After a few more visits, they determined that there was a faulty sensor in the HVAC unit. The faulty sensor was a manufacturer issue: NOT Akshar. They replaced it (NC) and now they system is working like a champ! I can even control the humidifier from the smart thermostat.Things happen. The proof is how well the contractor stands behind their work and products they provide. Akshar gets a big "thumbs up" for both from me.

Absolutely rubbish behaviour and service by this people. Complete unprofessional bunch. Can't recommend at all. BEWARE. Only hire them if you want to be yelled at in your own home and called a Liar REPEATEDLY because of miscommunication between their phone rep and technician. Either that or because they want to charge more despite being issue within just 3-4 months of installation. Details review to come later once my injury heals but highly recommend to stay away from this low offer unprofessionals.

Akshar has been a great company to work with. They just completed a job that involved installing a new furnace with improved filtration plenum, a new efficient water heater, and installation of new ductwork. They are very communicative with phone calls and email reminders. The only issue we had was that we needed a vent installed for our over-the-range microwave and this is not something they normally do. They still did it and it works well, just note that this is not a normal ask for them.I would not hesitate to hire Akshar again for any HVAC needs.

After shopping around with 5 HVAC companies, Akshar gave us the best estimate. The owner of the company came to do the initial assessment and there was no pressure sales talk at all. Akshar presented us with reasonable pricing and were very patient in providing us with multiple estimates of different models to fit our needs. The office staff was professional, friendly and prompt in responding. The entire crew was also professional and worked on the job in a very timely and efficient manner.Akshar gave us the Best estimate with the Better Equipment compared to all the rest.

We had used Akshar HVAC to replace our 20 year old heating and air conditioner. They were the most reasonably priced and very willing to work with us on multiple options to get us the specific model/combinations we wanted. Mayur was extremely knowledgeable, patient and really took time to understand our specific need, provide with an estimate which was significantly better than the nearest competitor estimate. The work was executed with precision in timeframe promised. And all paper work with township, PSEG (rebate) and warranty was handled by them smoothly. No surprises at all!I would highly recommend Akshar HVAC and Mayur for any HVAC needs for high quality work at a very reasonable price.

2025 Commercial HVAC Regulations: What You Need to Know Before Installing a Rooftop Unit

    • Posted On: July 2, 2025

Commercial HVAC systems are extremely powerful and have complex operations. When you need to cool, heat, or ventilate a large space, it is evident you need high-performance equipment that can meet your comfort demands. Thus, compared to simple residential HVAC units, commercial rooftop units (RTUs) consume more power and generally pose more environmental threats.

However, in 2025, the regulations for rooftop unit installation have got stricter as we are embracing eco-friendly measures to minimize carbon footprint for healthier and safer communities. With increased environmental consciousness, regulatory agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) have introduced significant changes in the manufacture and installation of heavy-duty rooftop units.

In this blog, we at Akshar HVAC will help you understand the new standards of a commercial rooftop unit installation so that you can actively contribute to lowering the impact of greenhouse gases that drastically affect the global climate. You can make your business more sustainable with these small but influential changes. So, let’s check them out.

    Revised Commercial RTU Installation Regulations

Needless to say, the rise in greenhouse gas emissions has induced enormous climate changes across the globe. Not only are the glaciers and ice sheets melting, but we are also witnessing extreme weather events more frequently. A fundamental reason behind this is the soaring demand for heating and cooling systems.

So, how do we reduce carbon footprint? What are the new HVAC standards?

    • Refrigerant Upgrade- Earlier, heating and cooling systems, including rooftop units, used R-410A refrigerant. This refrigerant variant had high carbon emissions, resulting in global warming. However, with the revised regulations in 2025, the R-410A refrigerant is now replaced by more eco-friendly alternatives like R-45AB and R-32 refrigerants. Thus, all units manufactured in 2025 will be available with these refrigerant variants. This switch will significantly lower the ecological impact of commercial RTUs.
    • Advanced SEER Ratings- The role of SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) ratings in heating and cooling systems is expansive. The higher the SEER rating, the more energy-efficient an HVAC is. Though the SEER rating varies country-wise due to climate differences, local codes, and testing standards, from this year, it will increase worldwide. For example, if the SEER rating was 14 in New Jersey, the efficiency benchmark would increase from now on. Therefore, if you are currently planning for a commercial rooftop unit replacement, consider the SEER2 rating, which is an upgraded version. It ensures improved energy efficiency, making an eco-friendlier choice.
    • Renewed HSPF Rules- According to the revised commercial rooftop unit regulations, the HSPF (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor) is subject to becoming more rigid. It is especially applicable for rooftop heat pumps which measure the heating efficiency via reverse reverse-cycle. In other words, similar to SEER ratings, HSPF is a metric for energy efficiency in heat pumps. Commercial rooftop heating pumps with higher HSPF are more fuel efficient. So, it means that in the coming winter, you are required to pick an RTU with elevated HSPF.

Will the New Regulations Affect Businesses?

Most businesses have rooftop units to retain a favorable indoor climate for enhanced productivity. Indeed, the HVAC regulations of 2025 will significantly affect businesses as the prices of commercial rooftop units are expected to rise. Though the upfront costs may considerably increase, the operation costs will drastically come down.

Additionally, you may be required to modify the existing infrastructure, leading to more investments. Nonetheless, the good news is you will save a lot of energy, playing a massive role in bringing a positive change to the global climate.
